In the new/old argument, I do think everyone's opinion is valid. However I agree that the new episodes are maybe recycling SIMILAR story lines, but what keeps it interesting is that they are happening to different people or viewed from another perspective. Marco was gay and wasn't a jock, Riley was gay and suppressed it. There is so many ways to deal with teenage problems. I think the writers are looking at the different perspectives accurately. Because there is never just one way to deal.

They tried the college thing though, and it wasn't as successful as they had hoped.
Yeah. I suppose that’s why they won’t try it again.
In order for degrassi to be good again, they need to move to a new environment, everything's already been done in their old one. They should move the show to college or the show should of followed the older cast members into their lives once they left school.
I agree with you. I’d love to see their college lives.
But I think someone from the staff said once: it’s called Degrassi, and Degrassi is the name of the high school :/
I think the most recent seasons are more of a realistic portrayal of high school than previous ones. It's more likely that people have back-stabbing and relationship issues vs. continual drug problems and people getting literally stabbed all of the time. Degrassi is allowed to have down time. They've covered every possibility in the past. And kudos to them for not repeating the same scenarios over and over.
they do but their lives are not revolving around it all the time, if you look closely Degrassi nowadays (season 10-onwards) is like a spoof of what it used to be from seasons 1-9

I loved the older episodes, the new ones just seem like repeats. Also, the old ones' episode titles made more sense.
I agree with you. The older ones are much better. But the new ones are pretty ok. Some character’s stories are really interesting to me.
And when you say they are like “repeats”, of course they are. The episodes keep telling real stories that happen everyday.
Through the years, Degrassi has covered A LOT of topics teenage people deal with:
Drug addiction, depression, cutting, alcoholism, teen pregnancy, STDs, rape, college/university issues, shooting, mental disorders; and now recently, medical issues (Holly J’s transplant).
Tell me what else the writers can write about because I don’t really know. To make something COMPLETELY new, they should add aliens and time traveling.
